Michael J. Kehoe, DDS
I have always had an interest in dentistry, but only chose to enter orthodontics while undergoing orthodontic treatment as an adolescent. This field gives me unparalleled opportunities to change lives. Every day I get to create beautiful smiles for my patients, and to improve their self-esteem and self-confidence.
Our state-of-the-art facility, housed in a classic office building, is equipped with the most advanced technology available, including digital imaging and Itero scanning that allows us to keep our patients thoroughly educated about their orthodontic treatment progress. Having seen the benefits repeatedly, I am a passionate proponent of the many positive aspects of early interceptive treatment. I am excited about the technological advances recently made in orthodontics such as the use of TADs (temporary anchorage devices), laser procedures, imaging techniques and Itero scanning reducing the need for impressions, to improve the level of orthodontic care I deliver to my patients.
My highly-skilled and dedicated team has been with me since the beginning and they continue to fuel my success. Their warm and caring attitude makes every one of our patients feel welcome and at home. We have ongoing office contests throughout the year, and each fall we hold patient appreciation day at a local orchard. This family-oriented event offers hayrides, a petting farm, a corn maze, a hay pile climb, and of course, cider and donuts.
At Kehoe Orthodontics, my team and I make patients our top priority which is why Hour Detroit Magazine has recognized me as a Top Dentist of the Detroit metropolitan area for several years running. Innovative treatments and technologies let our patients know that they are receiving the highest standard of care available. We think you and your family will agree.
My educational background includes:
- Oakland University in Rochester, MI, Chemistry major
- University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Doctorate of Dental Surgery
- Temple University, Postgraduate Education in Orthodontics & Master of Science in Oral Biology, a three year orthodontic residency program
During my orthodontic residency, I received awards for the highest academic average and for the most superior research thesis, which was published in a highly respected professional journal. I also received an award from the graduate orthodontic residents as "Best Faculty Member" for the biomechanics courses I taught to graduate orthodontic and undergraduate dental students.
Continuing education is an important part of keeping abreast of the latest technological advances in orthodontics. I attend continuing education courses throughout the year, as does my professional staff. In addition to my involvement in lectures, seminars, and home study, my team and I also enjoy the CareStream computer training program every spring.
Engaging with other orthodontic and dental professionals allows me to remain abreast of new research, advances in best practices, and technological innovations, which I am then able to translate into the most advanced care for my patients.
I am in active in the following organizations:
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics
- American Dental Association
- Great Lakes Society of Orthodontists
- Michigan Dental Association
- Macomb Dental Society
At Home and Away from Work
I reside in the rural countryside of Lapeer County, surrounded by its beautiful rolling hills, lakes and abundant wildlife. I have a dachshund dog who enjoys the outdoors as much as I do. My immediate family with whom I enjoy doing various outdoor activities, live in the same area.
In my spare time my interests include personal fitness and exercise, bicycling, boating, fishing, photography, hiking, skeet shooting, classic cars, and playing the guitar.
This vibrant community and its members have given much to me and I try to do my part by giving back. Some civic groups in which I participate include:
- Michigan Chamber of Commerce
- Romeo/Washington Chamber of Commerce
- Romeo Historical Society
- Romeo Merchants Restaurant and Professional Association (MRP)
In addition to sponsorship of various local school activities, as well as baseball, hockey, and soccer teams, my professional staff also participate in events like the Romeo Downtown Halloween Trick or Treat and Romeo Peach Festival. Individuals are known to journey in from surrounding communities to get one of the thousands of free, famous, glow in the dark toothbrushes that we distribute each year.
